Summer Intern – Lance Williams

Over four years ago, I graduated from high school at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. I was awarded the Torchbearer’s Award for Academic Excellence from The Center For Leadership Development (CLD) and given a full-tuition scholarship to attend Wabash College for four years. After a long journey, I recently graduated from Wabash College, Cum Laude, with a bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric. With all that was invested into my education, I was eager to dive into my adult life and live up to the expectations placed upon me by pursuing a career in marketing.

The Indiana Bar Foundation has allowed me to take that first step into my adult life by spending eight weeks with them as a Marketing & Development Intern. I will use this opportunity to not only increase my knowledge of marketing but also contribute to The Foundation in ways that will benefit it long after my departure.

During my time with the Foundation, I will assist the marketing team with external communication that aligns with the organization’s goals and values. This includes using my understanding of the organization’s external tone and branding to create engaging content to post on social media. Additionally, I will work behind the scenes to carry out the planning and execution of some of the Foundation’s most premier events, including the Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon.

The work that I am most excited to get into is creating social media content for the Foundation. I pride myself on being a creative person, and I cannot wait to use that creativity to build engaging graphics that capture the attention of the foundation’s target audience. I especially look forward to using my creativity to plan, promote, and present the Annual Meeting & Awards Luncheon.

I am just over a week and a half into my time with the Indiana Bar Foundation, but I already feel like I have been here for months. The team has been nothing but friendly and supportive. My fellow intern, Aviya Melrose, and I have worked well together thus far and continue to coordinate well as we move deeper into working with the Foundation. I am grateful to perform in a work environment that is positive, healthy, and collaborative. I look forward to getting to know every one of my teammates during the remaining six weeks of my internship.

I am confident that I will leave this internship with enhanced knowledge and understanding that will serve me well as I pursue my career in marketing. I hope my time at The Indiana Bar Foundation benefits them as much as it will benefit me.
