Indiana Legal Help, a program created in 2018 by the Indiana Bar Foundation, will become an independent nonprofit organization on July 1. Indiana Legal Help is a hub for self-help resources and information that connects Hoosiers with free and low-cost legal aid for non-criminal issues including family law, housing, and healthcare.
David Sneden is stepping into the role of Executive Director. David brings a wealth of legal and nonprofit leadership experience to Indiana Legal Help. He is a graduate of The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Now a self-proclaimed “reformed lawyer,” David has dedicated his career to nonprofit administration, focusing on expanding access to justice and serving communities in need. In his new role at Indiana Legal Help, David will lead efforts to expand legal resources and services across the state.
“Every day, I see how unresolved legal issues hold people back—how they create stress, anxiety, and harm that ripple through families and communities,” said David Sneden. “I believe that legal issues shouldn’t be a barrier to a better life. Everyone deserves access to the tools and support they need to resolve problems, regain stability, and move ahead with confidence. Indiana Legal Help is about breaking down those barriers—making legal help easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to access.”
Indiana Legal Help is proud to welcome its inaugural board of directors: Timothy J. Abeska, Caryn Glawe, Hon. Melissa May, Judy Okenfuss, and David Van Gilder. Each member brings invaluable expertise and leadership, guiding the organization in its mission to serve and support Hoosiers with civil legal needs across the state.
“The Indiana Bar Foundation launched Indiana Legal Help to provide Hoosiers with access to legal information and resources, knowing it would have a meaningful impact,” said Charles Dunlap, President & CEO of the Indiana Bar Foundation. “I want to express my gratitude to our partners on the Coalition for Court Access and at the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for their invaluable support. Seeing this initiative grow into an independent nonprofit that will continue to empower and serve Hoosiers in need is truly rewarding.”
