Indiana Bar Foundation Civics Summit

The Indiana Bar Foundation invites you to attend the inaugural Indiana Civics Summit!  The one-day conference includes national, regional, state, and local leaders representing government, education, business, and the legal community.

Seating is limited to the first 200 registrants.

NEW!  Attendees will receive 1.0 CLE credit (NLS) for attendance at the Summit.

Registration deadline is Friday, March 31.

Date: Thursday, April 13

Time: Check-in and breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m.  The first session begins at 8:30 am.  The summit will end by 4:30 pm.

Location: Ivy Tech Community College Culinary and Conference Center, 2820 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46208

Cost: $50, includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and copy of Richard Haass’s book The Bill of Obligations: Ten Habits of Good Citizens

Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch

Suzanne Crouch is a proud Hoosier and Evansville native.

She was elected Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor in 2016.  Prior to that, she was Indiana’s state auditor since 2014.  Lt. Gov. Crouch also served in the state House of Representatives for more than 8 years, representing parts of Vanderburgh and Warrick counties and the Vanderburgh County auditor and Vanderburgh County Commissioner.

Throughout her years of public service, Lt. Gov. Crouch has earned several awards and recognitions, including the Trine University Woman of Distinction, Indianapolis Business Journal Woman of Influence, and Purdue University College of Liberal Arts Distinguished Alumna.  She also chairs the Roundtable on Mental Health, Intellectual and Development Disabilities Task Force, and the Indiana Civic Education Commission.  Lt. Gov. Crouch chaired the 2020 Indiana Civic Education Task Force, which is helping to usher in a rejuvenation of civic education for our state.

Dr. Richard Haass, President of the Council on Foreign Relations, Author

Since 2003, Dr. Richard Haass is the president of the Council on Foreign Relations, an independent, nonpartisan membership organization, think tank, and educational institution dedicated to being a resource to help people better understand the world and foreign policy.

Prior to this, Dr. Haass served as director of public planning for the U.S. State Department under President George W. Bush, and worked as a special envoy for Northern Ireland in 2001-2003.  Additionally, he served as a special assistant to President George H.W. Bush as a senor director for Near East and South Asian affairs on the National Security Council.  In 1991, Dr. Haas was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal, the second-highest civilian award in the United States, for his contributions to the development and articulation of U.S. policy during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Dr. Haass is the author or editor of 14 books, including The Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens, published in 2023.
