The Indiana Bar Foundation has released the 2024-2025 Mock Trial Case. Indiana V. O’Brien.

The case bio: It seems like there is bad blood between the international pop star, Jamie Kingfisher, and child tennis prodigy turned actor, Avery Patel. After a strained relationship and a nasty break up between the two celebrities, podcaster Asher O’Brien was quick to cash in on the drama for their podcast, The Fish Tank.  Asher is an up-and-coming influencer whose podcast, a show that focuses on Jamie Kingfisher and their life and experiences, has grown in popularity. On the episode covering the breakup of Kingfisher and Patel, O’Brien stated something to the effect that “someone needs to take care of them” in reference to Patel and the way O’Brien understood the Kingfisher/Patel breakup.

Fast forward to the booming downtown Indianapolis scene and an event known as the Indiana Comic Con, Patel is hosting a meet and greet signing for their newest acting role. Chaos erupted at the event as the fire alarm at the event went off, sending everyone in the room into a panic. In the confusion Patel was hurt by Flynn Coleman, who alleged to have mentioned something connecting his attack to the harsh podcast episode. Now, O’Brien is being charged with intimidation and provocation for the attack.

Avery Patel and Asher O’Brien give both of their sides of what happened on that day and their connections. Two other witnesses to the events, Nicky Almasi and Quinn Dolinsky, offer their own firsthand experience of what happened. Finally, two doctors, Rowan Ellis and Jude Irwin, bring forth their own medical examinations to help decide the extent of the injuries and if they were preexisting.
